What is Islamic Inheritance Law?
Inheritance law in Islam is referred to as irth. This means that a predetermined right is due to an established heir from the estate of a deceased.
The main source of inheritance law is the Quran and particularly from Sura Al-Nisa’a which contains the majority of law. In addition the Ahadith of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) have extensive rulings on the distribution of inheritance in conjunction with Iijma (consensus of qualified scholars) and Qias (analogy of qualified scholars).
Our purposes cover Islamic Inheritance Law in the Australian context.
